Blacklick Crossing
Although RiverHills Bank and our many partners have made huge strides to close the affordable housing gap in Ohio and the surrounding areas in the past several years, much work still needs to be done. The demand for safe, affordable living space is still very high. This was demonstrated to us with one of our most recent projects.
Blacklick Crossing, a 30-unit, 6 building affordable housing community is set to open its doors to residents in early 2020. From the time that construction was approved in July, families, and individuals have been working hard in the hopes of becoming one of 30 lucky residents to land an apartment. At intake, there were over 126 applicants. Before the intake, almost 500 people expressed interest in the apartments. Some of the applicants had even camped out overnight at the intake in the hope of qualifying!
Part of the reason these units are such a popular draw is the location. The apartments are located across from Blacklick Woods Metro Park, on a bus-line connecting to job centers, and close to Reynoldsburg High School and Columbus State Community College. A newly constructed YMCA is also scheduled to break ground right across the street. It is extremely important that these projects not only create safe, affordable living spaces but also provide supportive services that individuals and families need to change and improve their lives. RiverHills Bank is so grateful for being able to partner with such a great organization such as Homeport that provides residents with so many amazing services. Below are just a few types of support Homeport provides as well as images of the project.
