Get Started with Card Controls
In today’s fast-paced world it’s important to be proactive when it comes to keeping your money safe. One way you can protect yourself from fraud is by using Card Controls. Card Controls enable you to manage all debit cards linked to your RiverHills Bank accounts, instantly freeze any card anytime, and allow you to set up card and alert preferences.
To access Card Controls you must first download the RiverHills Bank Mobile app, available on the App Store and Google Play. Once downloaded, login to the app using your RiverHills Bank login information. From the dashboard click on the Cards tab in the quick links section to access the Card Contols dashboard. Below is a list explaining the various controls and features available through Card Controls.
Controls and Features
My Locations when enabled will deny in-store transactions if your mobile device is not on your person at the time your debit card is swiped. Precise location under location services will need to be active in your phone’s privacy settings to utilize this function.
My Regions allows you to add and name custom regions in locations where you want transactions to be allowed. If an in-store transaction is attempted outside of your set region(s), the transaction will be automatically denied. You can set up multiple regions if you live and work in different areas. Each region must be 5 or more miles. This feature can easily be toggled off when you are traveling and spending outside of your normal region(s).
Merchant Controls enable you to allow or deny certain transactions by their merchant type. Toggle approved merchants on and off quickly and easily based on your needs. Each merchant type has a drop-down menu explaining the various vendors typically under that merchant type.
Transaction Controls when enabled allows you to control how your card is used. You can allow or deny 4 different methods of transactions: In Store purchases, Online purchases, Mail/Phone purchases, and ATM withdrawals.
Spending Controls allow you to set custom spending thresholds per transaction. If this feature is enabled and a transaction is attempted that is greater than your set limit, it will automatically be denied.
Alert Preferences can be set up by accessing the Alert Preferences dashboard, which looks very similar to the Control Preferences dashboard. Here, you can decide which types of transactions will trigger a push notification to your mobile device. Enable alerts for all transactions, or set up alerts based on Location, Merchant Type, Transaction Type, and Spending Limits. Enabling alerts will not affect whether or not a particular transaction is approved, but simply notify you when that type of transaction hits your debit card. You can also choose to be notified about transactions based on how your debit card is charged. If, for example, you only want to be alerted when your debit card is used online, simply toggle on the eCommerce option.
Setting up Spending Alerts can help you keep track of big-ticket items charged via your debit card. To learn more about how to set up account spending alerts not tied to your debit card, ask a Customer Service Representative about Notifi.
Recent Transactions allows you to quickly view a list of all recent and recurring debit card transactions. Transactions are sorted by date and can be expanded to display additional information. This list will not show items such as cleared checks or automatic payments set up using your account and routing number. It will only show debit card transactions. To see a complete list of your account transactions, simply switch back to your RiverHills Bank mobile app and choose the account you wish to review.
Linked Accounts dashboard shows all accounts each selected debit card is linked to. This is another area where you can access your recent transactions list. Much like the Spending Limit alert, the low balance alert can be set up to notify you if your account falls below a set amount. This feature can help you avoid overdraft fees. This is also a helpful tool for parents to be alerted when their child’s account is low or in danger of being overdrawn.
