The Wilds at Harvest Rose

The Wilds at Harvest Rose is a 45-unit senior living project on a single site in Ravenna, Ohio. The development features 45 newly constructed “yurts,” with 36 two-bedroom and 9 one-bedroom units. The units will be open for residency this spring, and all but one are already spoken for. The Wilds has a waiting list for new, potential residents. This development stemmed off an existing senior living community in the area, Harvest Rose. The idea to use yurts came about after one of the agency’s former executive directors visited a hotel room with round rooms. He was so fascinated that he did some research, and discovered that round buildings are naturally more energy-efficient.

The yurts are stand-alone units, each featuring an open concept kitchen and living area, high ceilings and a skylight for natural light. The only building on the property that’s not round is the community building, which has a manager’s office and amenities such as laundry and a community room. Residents also can hook up a washer and dryer in their own units.

Residents must be 55 or older to qualify for a yurt, which is slightly younger than many other Senior Living facilities. The hope is to make affordable housing more attainable to a broader range of adults in need. RiverHills Bank was very excited to help fund a project such as this that pushes the boundaries of “normal” construction. Projects like these open the door for the potential to make Affordable Housing facilities more exciting and engaging. Residents at The Wilds will be proud to show off their new homes and have a safe, affordable environment to live in.

Special thanks to all of our project partners including Neighborhood Development Services, OHFA, Development Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing, and the City of Ravenna.
